Chromium is an essential trace mineral required by the body in very small amounts. The biologically active form of chromium known as GTF (Glucose Tolerance Factor) is a complex of chromium and the B-vitamin niacin. Several forms of chromium exist, but ChromeMate (generically called chromium nicotinate, chromium polynicotinate, or niacin-bound chromium) is the only patented niacin-bound chromium complex backed by significant scientific research. ChromeMate closely resembles GTF and, therefore has similar biological activity.
